Reframed takes historical repertoire as a starting point rather than a fixed destination. Old melodies, rom Renaissance music to traditional songs, are reimagined in the present through transformation, improvisation, arrangement, and new approaches to sound. Rather than reconstructing the past, we embrace the impossibility of performing it “authentically,” since every encounter with early music is already shaped by the present. At the core of the project lies human instinct: the urge to reshape and reinterpret material. Through diminutions, arrangements, and improvisation, familiar melodies are continuously transformed, expanding the ensemble and subtly altering perception. The result is a continuous performance in which different historical layers intersect. The performance also questions how we listen across time: how this music may once have been experienced, and how we hear it today, as an exploration of memory, distance, and perception
