In Resonant Bodies, recorder ensemble Delle Donne Consort and composer Ellen Jacobs explore how space, sound, and human connectedness influence and shape one another. Starting from the theme of spatiality, the project investigates how sound creates space — and how space, in turn, shapes sound, the body, and the relationships between performers and audience.

The performance emerges from a collective creative process that bridges “old” and “new.” Historical performance practices — tuning systems, overtones, and interval symbolism — are brought into dialogue with contemporary approaches such as experimental playing techniques, ground sounds, and resonances drawn from the acoustics of the space itself. This creates a dynamic tension between tradition and innovation, the human and the non-human in sound.

Within this framework, dissonance and vibration become expressive metaphors for connection, friction, and transformation. The space itself functions as an instrument, where even inaudible frequencies and subtle vibrations shape the audience’s sensory experience.

Resonant Bodies invites listeners to enter a living field of resonance — not only of sound, but of presence, matter, time, and memory. The audience is encouraged to participate not as passive observers, but as co-resonating bodies within an evolving sonic landscape.
